Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan does wine
Maynard James Keenan is a multi-tasker. Let’s begin with frontman for Tool, A Perfect Circle, occasional sketch comedy actor and now wine maker. Stronghold Vineyards, a winery in the Arizona desert, is his new baby and his baby is looking good.
Stronghold is the subject of a new documentary in production now. Blood into Wine: The Arizona Stronghold is being readied for a 2010 release. Mutineer Magazine has prepared a Maynard cover for their upcoming January issue. The new trailer has just hit the web.
The documentary features a lot of interviews and winery tours with Keenan and his talented wine making partner Eric Glomski. It’s here that we learn of the best explanations for planting grapes in the middles of the Arizona desert. Is this vision or what?
Keenan is one of rock’s most creative artists. His health conscious lifestyle preference is well known. He owns an organic produce market.
We love the new trailer

Keenan is no stranger to film, either — the Tool videos are especially intense. The documentary has created some buzz, but really it just gives us an excuse to post the clip to “Schism,” from the 2001 album Lateralus, directed (as all the videos are) by guitarist Adam Jones. If the clip gives you nightmares, just remember you can chase those away with Keenan’s wine, or ours.
