Wine’s Seductress Sommelier
Alessandra Rotondi is the woman behind one of the most innovative wine tasting businesses in the U.S. aptly named Wine Seduction. Wine, as she so eloquently puts it, “is the perfect weapon of “mass seduction” and drinking wine can be an amazing, sensual experience if it is shared in the right way with the person you love.” Okay, so she had us at hello.
Rotondi touts her concept as the best way to taste different wines, learn, enjoy, have fun,and become a “Wine Seduction” connoisseur in one evening. Given that she is willing to acknowledge that visual presentation and style are central to her approach, she may indeed be on to something.
Essentially, Wine Seduction is an event and a great one at that. For those among us bent on the up front adaptation of style and presentation, there is simply nothing out there more descriptive than this. Don’t get the wrong idea here. Her wine gigs are not fluff. She’s got the palate to stand behind her style. She comes with a profound knowledge and experience of the wine industry having served as a wine consultant and sommelier in many Manhattan restaurants. But it is surely her creative, seductive wine storytelling combined with her provocative wardrobe changes at the gigs that make everyone gasp and blush throughout the night. She certainly feeds many fantasies!
Alessandra’s family comes from the Chianti Classico area in Tuscany. She’s certainly has the intellectual chops. Prior to graduating in Political Sciences, she served as “Liason-Officer” in the Embassy of Ecuador to Italy. It was in 2005 that she felt the need to honor her ancestors’ “wine legacy.” After receiving the Professional Degree of Sommelier by the Italian Sommeliers Association, in 2006, Alessandra quit the Diplomatic service to fully embrace her new career.
Essentially, here’s how this works.
You and your guests arrive at the venue for a four courses dinner paired with four wines while her Wine Seduction Expert introduces every wine and goes into how to use each one at its best for creating a romantic atmosphere, a sexy moment or to “conquer” your partner. So far, so good. Then they help you to pair each wine with the right food (or vice versa) and choosing the wines themselves.
The presentation of each wine lasts about 10-15 minutes and then the Wine Seduction Expert goes into showtime mode pairing each wine with a different outfit giving also specific suggestion as to how you can do the same to express yourself at your hottest. The wines are then served in a precise order along with the specific food that they have chosen.
It’s here that it begins to get juicy. During dinner her Wine Seduction Expert is available for guests’ questions about wine and (we love this part) Wine Seduction entertains them with information and stories about wine, love, betrayal, seduction and wine making.
