First I would always go for the sweets ones (super fruity, white Zinfandels and dare I say Franzian in nature). And that was nice, but we all know how those sweet ones just end up getting left behind as our wine palates change.

Marisol Ramirez is the Associate Producer of Merlove, a documentary about Merlot wine, Director of Guest Services at Darioush Winery in Napa and an admitted, hopeless oenophile. With the imminent introduction of our own Sacre Bleu, Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon, we thought an homage to the grape would be in order. Who better then to go to for a snapshot summary of Cabernet Sauvignon than Ms. Ramirez?

Though I can't really say that too loud while I am finishing up my masters here in Burgundy, France for obvious reasons. The beginnings of that passion are actually quite nerdy in nature, go figure. (Told you I'm a dorky nerd at heart!)

Much to our relief the resilient workers in Chile’s wine-producing region, including ours in the historic Maule Valley, have now returned to the fields to bring in this year’s grape harvest. It's interesting to watch because much like California, Chile has coastal mountain ranges between great valleys and the Pacific Ocean. This up and coming region produces reds that are beginning to take on cabernets from Napa Valley and in many instances kicking ass.
