My love for wine has been like my love for men, ever changing and maturing. First I would always go for the sweets ones (super fruity, white Zinfandels and dare I say Franzian in nature). And that was nice, but we all know how those sweet ones just end up getting left behind as our wine palates change. So my obvious next move was to those crisp white wines that were refreshing, perfect for spring happy hours and my go-to chicken recipe. This phase was like a old relationship- we were comfortable and knew what to expect . I knew I could always enjoy a nice Chardonnay or Pinot Grigio. If things got a little boring I could throw a sparkling white wine in the mix.
Whenever someone brought up the subject of a bold Cabernet, excuses of headaches, stained teeth and my lack of knowledge prevented me from trying them. Until that one fateful night, when things with the old-ball-and-chain (Pinot Grigio) had gotten dull, and I decided to spice up my life and head to darker side. My first sip of the cab was strong, rich and full-bodied. It was so good, but I questioned myself…I don't normally do this…This isn't my type…Do I even know anything about red wine? But the fruit and tannins blended together so well that I continued my affair with the cab. From then on I only swayed back to a sparkling white for occasions, knowing that my true love was always there, ready to be enjoyed with a steak dinner and sinful chocolate.
Cabernet, you stole my heart, and I am completely okay with that. Amen.

It is said that the grapes used to make cabernet sauvignon are “easy to cultivate” and “thick skinned”. I say with a taste like, wine makers are smart to engage with these thick, easy bunches. This fine wine makes food taste better, dates less awkward and life much smoother. I can hear the birds chirping now.

Oh, the rich, diversified scents and taste takes me back to the days when scratch and sniff ruled and brings me into today where my husband makes a Cab. that will make me beg for more. The pleasures of a good Cab. can be felt from your nose to your toes and can be peered into with the joy of Christmas day! Ok, gotta go fill up my glass now.

I love my Cab..i remember back in the day..(yeah the 80s) when the closest igo to wine in my glass was Boone's Farm..yeah i was a teen, But i dreamed of the day i would be a successful business woman drinking my wine. So in my 20's i started the tastings and still didnt care for “red” wine or many white wines. I was determined though to mature my taste buds and reform them. So I met my current boyfriend and told him I wanted a man that would drink a glass of wine with me in the evenings. So we went to tastings and both agreed on a Reisling, then we went to a moscato and we got brave one night and were feeling frisky and bought a Cab/shiraz mix and my lips feel in love with red wine and thanked me for the experience. Now I am a Cab drinker and feel like that business woman holding my wine feeling all sophisticated and proud to be a wine drinker that i dreamed about being as a teen. The Wine may have not been the “route of accomplishment” but it was sure nice to find something so wonderful to taste and enjoy! Now when i go out with my friends I do try to convert all of the “non” red wine drinks to my side with just that taste of pleasure that i first came across on their lips. oh i wish i could feel it for the first time again..*smiles* Angi Ring (New to Dallas)

Not so long ago, I enjoyed being an underage drinker. In retrospect, I probably should not have started so young, but that is where this love story begins.
I was in college at the wonderful age of 19 and like most college students I enjoyed anything alcoholic that was easy to drink. Lucky for me though, I had a friend that was older that worked for his dad at an energy company in Houston. This friend changed my life.
He invited me to be his date to the company Christmas party at a very lovely hotel in downtown. The food was prepared by a personal chef and the company was sophisticated, and as such I wanted to fit in. Naturally, I told my date that I would like a glass of red wine. I had no idea what I was getting myself into at this point, I just knew that red wine said sophistication like no other drink I could think of. Unfortunately for him, he told the bartender to get me a glass of the best red he had by the glass. Jordan Cab 2002. Yes, my first taste into the ever so sweet wine world was Jordan Cab 2002. I was spoiled rotten from the get-go.
I was hooked to say the least, and upon returning back to the college realm, I begin to enjoy food and wine in a very different way. As for wine, I began to savor and distinguish between different varietals, enjoying each for their own unique sense of style & textue. I was passionately in love with wine and there was no turning back. I became so involved that I started working for a wine retailer, where I was able to refine my palate and learn about the stories behind the different vineyards. I learned a little about the chemistry and the horticulture process. I developed an appreciation for a variety of different wines and was able to help others connect to the wine world, experience it with the same new found love that I had. There is nothing like being able to pair the right wine to the right person to get them hooked. It only takes one. For me it was a Jordan Cab 2002. Unfortunately, life happens and career paths change, but loves like that never die and my go to wine will always be a Cab.

I don't give a crap how many times a woman tells you she just wants a guy that can make her laugh and always be there for her, the intrinsic truth is that we want the bad boy—the one that shows us where the edge is and then takes us over it, usually leaving a few scars on our heart while he's at it. I've had cabs tug at my soul with their earthy, leathery grips, making me believe I was in love, and then I've had others that masqueraded as the cab I longed for but then left me ill-satisfied with their overblown personalities and their head-numbing octane. That should be enough to stop a woman from continually coming back for more, making herself vulnerable to the “bad boy” that will set her up and let her down, but the thrill of those authentic cabs—the ones that know where the edge is but then manage to pull back from it—is what peaks my curiosity every time and sends me back for more.

    Wow! Beautiful.

Only in the world of wine could you go from being a curious taster who knows nothing, to interviewing a wine company that has changed the wine universe! Cabernet is the old faithful in winetopia. It remains strong, tasteful, and you can always count on it to be there time after time. Whether in a box, bag, jug, or straight from the barrel, Cabernet will never fail.. Much like that attempted rhyme.. Sacre Bleu you have helped make me a wine fanatic! Keep up the great work and yes I love my CAB!!

Sometimes there is that one guy that is still a bad boy in his heart, but has reformed to the point that he can make you laugh, and is there for you most of the time. While as I got older I prefer that in a man, the bad boy authentic Cab still gets me every time!
