Boston Wine Riots continue unabated
If we could give out a wine tasting promotional version of an Academy Award, we would surely have to consider the best picture nod for Tyler Balliet and The Second Glass for the inspired and tasty Wine Riot. Millennial oenophiles in Boston get a front row seat for perhaps the best wine tasting event in the country. It is an unhinged kind of take the wine and shout gig where 250 wines from all over the world get put front and center for the curious, young and thirsty among us.
Designer Holly Gordon and Web guy Adam Pieniazek have put up a new site dedicated to the event and by the looks of it, this next riot set for April 17th and 18th is set to become the biggest yet.
How do you not love Balliet and Wine Riot’s misssion statement.
For too long, snooty and pretentious wine drinkers have intimidated us into being nervous at entering wine shops, afraid to ask simple questions in restaurants. For too long have we felt stupid for not understanding overcomplicated wine jargon like “on the nose, I get a hint of jackfruit” and “malolactic fermentation.” For too long have we been tricked into thinking high-quality wine needs to cost a lot of money. My brothers and sisters, the time has come to claim wine for our own!
Who cares if some jackass decided a wine is worth “91 points” on an antiquated scale that was invented before most Americans had ever heard of Chardonnay? Who gives two shits about “notes of new saddle leather, black fruits and burning embers?” Is the wine good? Did you like it? Do you feel it was worth the money you paid for it? These are the questions we have dedicated our careers to answering.
We have a clip.
